About Danielle Gray

Danielle Gray became executive vice president for global public policy in April 2024. In this role, she leads the company’s external affairs, policy and international relations teams and the Center for Health Care Research. Before joining UnitedHealth Group, Danielle was the global chief legal officer of Walgreens Boots Alliance. She also previously served as chief legal and administrative officer of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina and as a litigation partner at O’Melveny & Myers, LLP.

From 2009 to 2014, Danielle served in the White House and Department of Justice (DOJ) in various policy and legal capacities, including assistant to the president and cabinet secretary; deputy director of the National Economic Council; and senior counsel in the White House Counsel's Office and DOJ’s Civil Division. Danielle began her career in public service with clerkships for the Honorable Merrick B. Garland on the U.S Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit and Justice Stephen Breyer on the U.S. Supreme Court.

Danielle earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and public policy from Duke University and a J.D. from Harvard Law School. She serves on the boards of the Brennan Center for Justice and the Duke University Trinity College Board of Visitors and is a member of the American Law Institute.
