Why did you decide to pursue medicine as a career?
Growing up in a remote area with very limited health care access, I experienced first-hand the challenges of getting medical care. I vividly remember my family having to drive for hours just to see a doctor when I was young. This experience really stuck with me, and it sparked a deep desire to help improve health care accessibility for others.
Had you not chosen medicine, what would you do?
Before diving into medicine, I studied Biomedical Engineering and worked in the field. If I hadn’t become a physician, I could see myself working in a health care technology start-up, combining my passion for engineering and innovation to make a difference in the health care world.
If you were to change medical specialties, what would you choose?
It’s a tough choice, but if I had to switch specialties, I’d probably go for psychiatry. Over the years, I’ve found it incredibly rewarding to support and guide my patients through their mental health journeys, and I truly value the deep connections that come with it.
How is most of your time spent away from work?
When I’m not working, I love traveling and spending quality time with our little one, who just turned 1. It is truly incredible to watch the little ones grow.
Describe your perfect day off?
My perfect day off starts with a refreshing espresso poured over ice in the backyard. After that, it’s all about enjoying time with family and immersing ourselves in sports – especially with football season in full swing. Go Bills!
Tell me the best part about being a physician?
The best part of being a physician is the incredible opportunity to make a real difference in people’s lives every day. It’s deeply fulfilling to hear from patients who take the time to share their feedback – those moments are truly heartwarming.
