MindIgnite!
Building on work started by Dr. Avi Gururaja, a primary care provider in Optum Care California, MindIgnite! is a social responsibility effort to help inspire children from socially vulnerable areas to consider healthcare as a career choice. MindIgnite! offers an opportunity for local UHG healthcare professional volunteers to share stories with grade school students that may encourage them to pursue future careers in healthcare.
In a virtual setting, MindIgnite! will connect a UHG healthcare professional volunteer with a classroom of students grades 4-12. Volunteers will share their personal and professional journeys. Sessions will last approximately 30 minutes, including 15 minutes of Q&A, and provide an opportunity for continued conversation after the interactive session.
The goal is to build a racially and ethnically diverse health workforce reflective of the communities we serve.
