As part of our ongoing efforts toward building a sustainable and inclusive work environment, our operations team in Hyderabad onboarded a group of team members with hearing and speech impairments. Here is what they have to share about their experience.
At Optum, we believe the extraordinary happens at the intersection of diversity, equity, and inclusion. As a part of our ongoing efforts towards disability inclusion, we partnered with Adventures Beyond Barriers Foundation (ABBF) to support the cause at Vedanta Delhi Half-Marathon, where 50 Optum employees allied with 50 persons with disabilities to complete the 4.5 km run.
This initiative enabled us to spread awareness, break misconceptions, and provide visibility for people with special needs.
Mohith, another team member working in accessibility, finds his job rewarding because he has the opportunity to spread awareness on this topic daily. "Optum has policies and support systems to encourage and support employees with disabilities to perform to their fullest," Mohith shares. Indeed, it’s through such shared perspectives and roles that UnitedHealth Group continues to innovate and adapt, ensuring that all employees have the opportunities and resources they need to excel.
The Disability Equality Index® (DEI) recognized UnitedHealth Group as one of the best workplaces for disability inclusion in 2022 and it’s our third year in a row.
