About Chris Zaetta

Chris Zaetta was promoted to executive vice president, chief legal officer and corporate secretary of UnitedHealth Group in May 2024 after serving four years as chief legal officer of Optum. He returned to UnitedHealth Group in 2020, after serving as worldwide vice president at Johnson & Johnson, in charge of the company’s global litigation department. Before joining Johnson & Johnson, Chris spent nearly nine years at UnitedHealthcare and held several leadership roles including head of litigation and general counsel of the organization’s government businesses.

Chris began his career in the Attorney General’s Honors Program at the United States Department of Justice Tax Division. He later became a litigation partner at the law firm of Hogan Lovells in Washington, D.C., where he worked on a variety of white-collar investigations and civil litigation matters.

Chris graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. He has a Bachelor of Science in accounting from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
